We are a diverse team composed of professors, technicians, and students from the Federal University of ABC, united by the purpose of promoting the understanding and appreciation of mathematics.
The Federal University of ABC (UFABC) is a public university located in the Greater ABC region of the state of São Paulo. Established in 2005, UFABC follows an interdisciplinary model of teaching, research and extension programs, offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various areas of knowledge. With a modern infrastructure, qualified faculty, and commitment to academic excellence, UFABC aims to educate skilled professionals, promote scientific research, and contribute to the social and technological development of the country.
Mathematics has been widely used in describing, organizing, and solving increasingly complex problems over time. Simultaneously, it allows us to develop the ability to understand and construct deep and abstract structures. Motivated by the idea of disseminating these two complementary aspects of mathematics, the MatematiZou project emerges.
Our fundamental proposal is to present activities capable of conveying abstract ideas and connecting them to real-world situations, which helps promote the learning process in a more dynamic, playful, and engaging way. Through events in the Greater ABC region, MatematiZou aims to promote and teach mathematics, bring the scientific community closer to the population, and encourage inclusion, equity, and social justice.
Besides our online exhibitions and activities here on our website, we also organize itineraries for schools in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, where we present our materials and share mathematical knowledge with everyone.
